With Funds from Terre de Homies Somero Uganda in partner with Platform for Labor Action and Ecological Christianity Organization are implementing a three years project “Stopping Child Exploitation through Education and Livelihood” that aims at contributing to progressive elimination of the worst forms of child labor and realization of children rights in Uganda .
The project targets 1200 children (boys and girls) exploited and at risk of exploitation.650 exploited boys and girls (150 domestic workers in Kampala,450 gold mining In Bugiri (200) and Moroto (250) and 50 in Busia) and 550(boys and girls)at risk of exploitation; 150 Kampala, 150 Bugiri, 200 in Moroto and 50 in Busia) are the primary beneficiaries’ .Overall the project:
Facilitates the protection and safeguarding of 1200 children engaged in worst forms of labor in Kampala, Bugiri, Moroto and Busia by 2018.
Improves Law enforcement agencies and duty bearers/government officials’ Knowledge and understanding of their roles and duties in stopping child exploitation in four districts of Kampala, Bugiri, Moroto -Karamoja and Busia.
Contributes to reduced vulnerabilities in the family/community of Children engaging in WFCL in Kampala, Bugiri, Moroto and Busia by 2018
Having experience working with exploited children in and out of school children involved in child labor using SCREAM , Somero also builds capacity of organizations, Institutions and child handlers in SCREAM( Supporting children’s rights through Education ,art and Media )Methodologies, we were obliged to provide a transitional place for the victims of child labor as the first step of withdrawn children and rehabilitation. we shall also under take all the training’s on SCREAM methodologies and build capacity of Platform for Labor Action and Ecological Christianity Organization
in using and monitoring the changes brought about as a result of using SCREAM approaches. We shall provide a while you wait center for the children mapped and withdrawn from domestic work for rehabilitation and counseling purposes.
